Upper Pine Elementary & Junior Secondary School in Rose Prairie, BC are one of two schools in BC that are part of the APPLE Schools initiative. For one of their activities to engage students in healthy behaviours, they have been hosting bi-weekly Taste Tests with all of the primary grades to help expose them to new and nutritious foods. Before the winter break, students had fun taste-testing a variety of different food pairings such as watermelon and blueberries, mango, and cottage cheese and raspberries. Their school health facilitator reported back that seeing a whole mango was a novelty experience for many students, and they even converted some hesitant students to liking cottage cheese!
