SMART Bikes: A Story from Westwood Elementary

Thanks to a generous donation through Heart Press, DASH received 150 Ergonomyx SMART Bikes. SMART Bikes fit under a desk and can be used while working. The bikes were donated to 24 schools across the province to support students’ health and well-being.

Westwood Elementary School in Prince George was one school that received bikes. They set them up in their Wildcat Den and their Choices Room. Jay Cartmell, the Community Schools Coordinator, explains that these rooms are used to support students who need a separate space to learn or someone to talk to. The bikes gave students’ the ability to focus on their work while being active. Cartmell says, “[the bikes] have become a great outlet for many students struggling with stress, anxiety, or other social or emotional needs.”
