Peace River North (SD 60) partnered with local organizations to host staff well-being sessions with topics ranging from workshops on anxiety to guided painting and yoga classes. The wide range of topics were selected intentionally to address the diversity of interests and needs among staff in regards to their approaches to health and well-being. The sessions had the additional benefit of providing staff with safe spaces to discuss mental health thereby increasing their mental health literacy and reducing stigma. The sessions were extremely well received with staff indicating that they found them useful and relevant. The organizers reflected that one of their most important learnings was the need for effective communication and collaboration between the school district and community agencies in order to support staff and student mental well-being.
DASH collaborates with schools and other partners to create, facilitate and support school communities to be optimal places for health and learning through a Comprehensive School Health approach.
