DASH is piloting two new programs in the lower mainland during the 2021-2022 school year: School Streets and Kid Commute.
School Streets is an initiative that designates a car-free block in front of participating schools that only remains open to walking, biking, and rolling during pick-up and drop-off times. The School Streets program has been shown to increase and promote active travel, reduce congestion and vehicle volumes around schools, and support community connectedness.
Kid Commute is a walking school bus (WSB) program. WSBs are organized group of students who regularly walk to and from school together with the support of one or more adult leaders. WSB programs promote physical activity, mental well-being and community connection, and decrease traffic and congestion around the school.
We depend on volunteers to make both programs successful and would love your help. To learn more about these two opportunities visit our Volunteer page.
